Transcaucasia Professional Development for Teachers of the English Language (2022-2026)
The Transcaucasia Professional Development for Teachers of the English Language builds the capacity of approximately 65 English Language (EL) teachers (48) and teacher trainers (12) in the Caucasus and five senior regional teacher trainers through September 30, 2026. The program will enhance professional development and foster collaboration among English language educators in the Caucasus by building on the achievements of the previous TPD-TEL/B-GATE iterations, through a blended approach of in-person and online training, culminating in a strengthened Trans-Caucasus educational network and increased civic engagement within the region.
The program continuation of grants from 2015-2022 aims to cultivate an empowered and interconnected community of English language educators from the Caucasus. The program seeks to increase the number of trained professionals and enhance their teaching proficiencies through exposure to American high school teachers, foster extensive professional networks using a ‘train-the-trainer’ approach, and promote regional collaboration and unity among communities divided by conflict. This comprehensive initiative strives to improve educational standards, contribute to peacebuilding, and counter foreign propaganda through educational diplomacy and cross-cultural engagement.
