Armenia Civics for Engagement (ACE) (2022-2027)
Since June, 2022, PH International has administered the program “Armenia Civics for Engagement” (ACE), which is implemented by a consortium of four partners, including PH International (lead), ICHD, Civitas Armenia (Armenian Center for Democratic Education), and the National Center for Educational Technologies (KTAK). The project is funded by USAID. The Program Facebook page is linked here.
The ACE activity will enhance the quality and scope of Armenia’s school-based and extracurricular civic education as a means to foster youth participation in public affairs for helping the advancement of democratic principles and practices in Armenian society. The purpose of ACE is to:
1) improve youth civic skills and sense of agency through formal education
2) improve the enabling environment for youth civic engagement.
Through formal civic education reform and non-formal youth engagement, ACE will increase opportunities for youth involvement in decision-making and youth leadership to catalyze systemic change that will bolster and sustain greater youth civic participation. The ACE program will ensure a robust, capable, and innovative youth education and youth civic engagement ecosystem in Armenia by 2026 via its innovative model of capacity building, networking, learning, training and investment. ACE will work with Armenian schools, universities, communities, and the national and local government to improve the quality and scope of school-based and extracurricular civic education as a means to positively influence the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of youth as active participants in strengthening Armenia’s democratic society.
The expected outcomes of ACE are: (a) youth civic skills and sense of agency through formal education are improved; and (b) the enabling environment for youth civic engagement is improved.
