Youth Ambassadors Program – East Asia And Pacific Region (2024-2025)

PH International’s Youth Ambassadors Program for the East Asia and Pacific (YAP-EAP), funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), aims to empower youth and adult participants from diverse backgrounds to develop leadership skills, civic engagement strategies, and a deeper understanding of environmental sustainability. PH will bring 42 participants from Myanmar, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and other Pacific Islands. Through workshops, outdoor experiences, and collaboration with peers, participants explore topics such as eco-literacy, digital engagement, and community problem-solving while developing action plans for community service projects to implement in their home countries.

Participants will be staying with host families, engaging with local organizations, and learning about environmental justice, diversity, and community organizing. Interactive sessions introduce participants to inclusive leadership strategies and conflict transformation, helping them apply these skills to challenges in their own communities. The program concludes with workshops on social justice and civic engagement, as well as visits to key American landmarks. After the exchange, participants will work on follow-on projects, supported by PH International and local partners, and present their progress at a virtual Final Conference, joining the global U.S. Department of State Exchange Alumni network.
